receives warm welcome in
Gujar Khan

GUJAR KHAN: Acting president of Pakistan Muslim
League (N) Mukhdoom Javed Hashmi said that said that
the masses nation would not forgive those who will
support President general Pervez Musharraf. The days
of his dictatorship are numbered.He was addressing a
public rally organized by the party’s city chapter in
front of Markazi Jamia Masjid to welcome him on his
way from Lahore to Islamabad on Sunday midnight. The acting president said that the nation was
plunged into dearness, unemployment, lawlessness as a
result of the misdirected policies of the government.
He further said that the judiciary has got
independence and the masses have awakened up and now
they will show the General the way out. He remarked
that the one- point agenda of former Prime Minister
Mian Nawaz Sharif has raised his stature as a
politician even further. The participants and showered
rose petal on the Acting President of PML (N) and
danced to the tune of the drums. They also shouted
slogans against the president General Pervez
Musharraf. On this occasion, president PML (N) tehsil
Gujar Khan Raja Hameed Advocate, City President Salim
Akram, and others addressed the gathering on this
occasion. Senior Vice president, PML (N) Punjab,
Chaudary Muhammad Riaz was not present at the welcome
rally as he was out of the country. But his supporters
did not attend the rally as they were reportedly asked
to stay away from the rally.

Inspection team expresses satisfaction over conduct of
FFMS Training camp.

GUJAR KHAN: Inspection team from Head
Office, Fauji Foundation, Rawalpindi, expressed
satisfaction over the academic and non-academic
performances of Fauji Foundation Model School, Negail
Campus. General Manager (Inspection & Evaluation) Mrs.
Tabassum Jamshed accompanied by Senior Manager Mrs.
Nabila Javed visited the school on Thursday. The team
inspected the record, enrolment, management, and other
related things and commended the Principal Mrs.
Shaheena Chaudary and Vice Principal, Mrs. Asma
Shoukat of the school for their up-to-date and
transparent record –keeping.
The team also visited the training camp
and lauded the organization and & conduct of regional
course designed for newly appointed teachers who had
come from different schools of Fauji Foundation. While
recording her opinion in the visitors’ book, the GM
remarked that everything was being organized in a
remarkable way. And of course, it cannot be done
without devotion and dedication, she added.
Earlier, on 3rd July, Brigadier (retd) Abdul Hadi
also spoke highly of the management and conduct of the
programme.
While talking to The News on this occasion,
Principal Mrs. Shaheena Chaudary revealed that Fajui
Foundation had decided to pay an amount of rupees 0.5
million to the parents of a student who drowned in a
pool during school’s tour of Wah Gardens. The Fauji
Foundation has also decided provide free schooling up
to graduation level to all the three children of the
unlucky parents, whichever institution they study, she
added. |

Encouragement does a lot to students.

GUJAR KHAN: Encouragement of the students in
curricular and extra-curricular activities is very
important. It is one of those factors which spur them
on to work more and harder. This was said by speakers
while speaking to the newly-recruited teachers at
training camp at Fauji Foundation Model School on
Thursday. Fauji Foundation has arranged a regional
course for week-long training of newly-inducted
teachers who had been appointed at different schools
of FF in Muzaffarabad, Dina, Mandi Bauhudin, Sohawa,
etc.
Speaking on the topic “How to become an
effective teacher”, guest speaker Professor Jamshaid
Ali said that encouragement, more than correction,
does a lot in making the students work better. He
remarked that teaching the students is a matter of a
great responsibility because a teacher whiling
teaching is moulding and training not the mind of an
individual but that of a whole generation.
Counting the makings of a good teacher, the
guest speaker said that personal appearance including
personality & self-confidence, enforcement of
discipline in the class, knowledge about the subject &
the students, presentation which includes way of
speaking, articulation and & pronunciation,
involvement which includes sincerity & dedication are
some of the major characteristics of a good teacher.
He said that the job of a teacher is that of a
motivator and facilitator.
Speaking as another guest speaker on this
occasion, Major (retd) Ghazanfar Abbas Faoorqi who is
the Principal of FFMS (City Campus) said that the
teachers should have a sound knowledge of sounds &
phonetics of a language. He impressed upon the
audience the importance of correct pronunciation. |
Town council
approves budget worth rupees 300 million for the fiscal year
2007-08. Our correspondent
GUJAR KHAN: Town council has Thursday unanimously presented and
approved budget worth rupees 300 million for the fiscal year 2007-08
while pre-budget session was marred by protests, walk-outs and
pandemonium. Town nazim Chaudary Muhammad Azeem presented the budget

Chauady Abrar Rasheed was also present on this occasion. Total income
during the next fiscal year is estimated at rupees 299.78 million while
total expenditures stand at 290 million rupees with the development
expenditures estimated at 76 percent and non-expenditure stay at 24
percent. Out of total development expenditures of rupees 220 million
which include 25 million from chief minister‘s grant for the year
2006-07, 29 million rupees for citizens community board (CCB) for the
year 2007-08 would be expended. Out of non-development expenditure worth
rupees 70 million, 39 million have been earmarked for Pay and Allowance,
rupees 28 million for contingencies and rupees 2.1 million for charged
expenditures. While presenting budget, Town nazim Chaudary Muhammad
Azeem said that the town municipal administration (TMA) has not levied
any new tax despite reduction in income heads as some of sources of
income have been transferred to District Government. He, however, said
that the TMA would continue to expend on development projects as
previously. He further said that the TMA was committed to solving the
problems of the residents of rural Union councils as well. On this
occasion, the town nazim disclosed that prime minister had accorded a
grant worth rupees 50 million for supply of gas to 22 villages in tehsil
Gujar Khan. He also said that a number of road construction projects
were underway in the eastern part of the tehsil. He said that president
had issued a huge grant of rupees 150 million for supply to electricity
to District Rawalpindi and out of which rupees 3.3 million would be
expended for supply of electricity to villages in the tehsil. He said
that all constructions in educational institutions in District
Rawalpindi would be carried out by national logistic cell (NLC).
Earlier, members of the town council protested against appointment of
two legal advisors for the TMA without passing a resolution in the
council and non-availability of agenda of meetings of town council in
advance for the last two years. A member of the council Khan Zamir
protested that the members of the house were not provided with agenda of
the meeting in advance. On this, on the call of Khan Zamir, all members
of the council walked out of the house. Later, they were brought back
into the house after 20-minute hectic efforts and entreaties by town
nazim Chaudary Muhammad Azeem. Another member of the council Raja
Gulfraz questioned the appointment and necessity of two legal advisors
for the TMA without the approval of the town council. He also asked how
their salaries were increased without taking the council into
confidence. Replying to these questions, the town nazim said that the
Town council officer was new & inexperienced and added that he would
ensure provision of agenda to all the members of the council in advance.
The town municipal officer (TMO) explained that it lay within ambit of
the provincial government to increase the salary of its employees. GUJAR
KHAN: A dead body of unidentified man was found in Ward No 4 here on
Thursday. The body which appeared to about 70 years old, was shifted to
tehsil headquarter hospital. Neither name nor address nor mode of
death of the deceased could be ascertained.

Town nazim takes note of unhiegenic condition in the city

GUJAR KHAN: Town nazim Chaudary Muhammad Azeem has taken serious
note of uncleanly and unhygienic conditions in the city. During his
visit of Housing Scheme No 1, town nazim got infuriated at seeing dumps
of garbage scattered in a street of the area and issued stern orders
then and there to sanitation staff to remove refuse within one day.
During his visit, the town nazim saw the dilapidated condition of a
street in the same area and promised the residents that the street would
soon be concreted over. He also said on this occasion that the street
would be first provided with sewerage system.
